Homemade Body Scrub & Face Mask!

Every so often I like to make up some homemade body scrub and face mask.

Today I am sharing two homemade body scrub and face mask that I really like to use and are easy to make!

Body Scrub

1/2 cup white sugar

1 1/2 tbsp olive oil

1 tbsp honey

Add all ingredients to a bowl or small jar and mix together.  If your honey is quite thick try microwaving it for a few seconds to soften it, this will allow you to be able to mix it in with the other ingredients.  Optional: you could add a few drops of your favourite essential oil.

During a shower, rub the scrub into your body and feet and then wash off.  I found this leaves my skin feeling soft and nourished!

Face Mask

1/4 cup plain unsweetened yoghurt

1 tsp honey

1 reasonably ripe banana (mashed)

Add all ingredients to a bowl and mix well together.  Use a hand blender if you have one as this can be a great way to really mash the banana and combine all ingredients.

Apply to your face and leave it for 15-20 minutes.  After 15-20 minutes wash the mask off and pat dry your face. Apply your favourite moisturiser.

Benefits of ingredients used:

Sugar – is a great exfoliant.

Olive Oil – can soothe, smooth and nourish the skin.

Honey – is good for wrinkles and ageing skin.  It is also an antibacterial which can help with acne treatment and prevention.

Banana – helps with skin tightening and acne busting.

Unsweetened plain yoghurt – good for smoothing out fine lines, hydrating dry patches and helps to give skin shine and glow.

***If you do have sensitive skin do try a test patch of these homemade products first***

I find these are great to use at the end of a busy week.

I just wanted to say that I have used similar scrubs & masks in the past and I have found that if you have sensitive skin, sometimes brown sugar is less rough. I have had struggles with acne and I know that sometimes mixing cinnamon and honey and putting it on a break out, covering it with a band-aid or gauze, and leaving it over-night will be like a miracle cure! Seriously, it’s wonderful.
I recently found your blog from http://www.reddit.com/r/blogging and it I love the layout. Really well done 🙂

Hi Cameya thanks so much for visiting and your comments. That’s great to know about the brown sugar and also about the cinnamon and honey mix – will definitely have to try that one! 🙂
