How to make Shadow Animal Wall Stickers!

Shadow animal wall stickers are so easy to make!

So many shops now sell different wall stickers, but did you know you can make them yourself for the fraction of the cost?

When getting our baby’s nursery room ready we wanted to do something a little different

We wanted to add some dimension to the room without having to wreck the wallpaper. It also had to be something that we could easily remove as our baby grew older.

So, we decided to try making animal shadow wall stickers, also known as wall decals.

I find these are great to place on the wall beside the bassinet/cot, change table or even the wall behind a bookshelf.  Because of them being a bold black colour, they are also an excellent way to encourage baby to look in a specific direction (especially if you are trying to prevent flat heads or to change a habit of looking one way).

To make these gorgeous wall decals you will need:

A Printer to print off my animal outline pictures that are attached to this post (or if you are clever enough you can freehand draw them…up to you). Click for a printout: Elle Cherie – Animal Outlines

Pick up a roll of black wall sticker paper from places like Amazon Spotlight or home décor shops.

Scissors.

Double-sided tape.

Pen or Pencil.

Wall Decal Instructions

Step 1

The first step is to print off the animal outline pictures and cut them out.

Step 2

Then use a bit of double-sided tape to stick the animal cut-outs onto the back of the wall sticker(paper side).

You can then either cut out around the shape or draw around it first and then cut it out.

Step 3

Once you have cut out the animal shape peel the backing paper off to expose the sticky side.

Attach the sticky side to your designated spot on your baby’s nursery wall. The blackboard sticker will easily go on most wall surfaces (flat is best though), and they do come off easily as well.

Most effortless DIY wall decals ever!

Our baby loves to stare at these, and we have found them to be super useful in getting him to look a certain way to help his little flat spot on his head!

Finally, you don’t just have to do animals, you could do other shapes like dots, stars, moons and dinosaurs or butterflies!  These could also make a beautiful little gift for someone else’s child and/or baby.
