10 Date Night Ideas!!

Date Night – Is this something that you and your husband/wife/partner do?

I think it’s only natural that when we have children, the relationship between couples takes a back seat.  We often forget that it’s essential to take time out with each other.

We think as parents, we set the foundation for our family – we need to be in a good place and doing well for our family to be happy and doing well.  That’s why we think it’s so important to have either once a week, once a fortnight or even once a month, a date night set aside – so you can just enjoy time with your husband/wife/partner!

If you are keen to do this or currently do this, but are running out of ideas, check out our list of 10 date night ideas and organize that babysitter!

10 Date Night Ideas you can implement now!

Inexpensive date night idea – Playground date

An excellent way to get that ‘young’ feeling again. Once the weather warms up, and it’s lighter in the evening (and most kids should be in bed and not at the park) Grab a picnic and visit a playground that has swings, slides, seesaws and just enjoy yourselves.

You will be amazed at how much fun you have and the laughter it brings!

Picnic Date

Pack the picnic basket/bag full of delicious treats such as cheese, fruit, bread’s, dips, chocolate, crackers, and don’t forget something to drink.  Grab a blanket and a cushion or two and head down to a park, a space by the river or lake or if you’re close enough – the beach, and have a romantic afternoon/evening picnic.

Dessert & coffee date

10 Date Night Ideas

Head out to your favourite café or restaurant, to share a dessert and have a coffee.  This is a great time just to chat with each other and enjoy each other’s company without the disturbance of your kids around.

Dinner & bowling date

10 Date Night Ideas

This can be such a fun idea.  Visit your favourite restaurant for dinner first and then finish the evening with a fun but competitive game of bowling.

Dinner & a movie date

If you want to do something quieter, visit your favourite restaurant (or try somewhere completely new) and then watch a movie together – pick something entirely opposite to what you both might like.

Couples romantic date night idea

10 Date Night Ideas

Arrange to have a couples massage at a day spa. These days many day spas have late nights on Fridays. This is an excellent way to relax and unwind together after a busy week. On the way home, pick up some takeaway and watch a few of your favourite tv show episodes together.

Quiz night date

This one is more of a social date, but it’s time that you can spend without the children around, having a laugh. And you might surprise yourself and learn something new about your partner that you didn’t already know!

Food crawl date

10 Date Night Ideas

This date involves a lot of moving around from place to place, but it definitely gives you something to talk about.  On this date, you have drinks/entrees/mains/dessert all at different locations.  You could try going to places you have never been to before or would have never tried before!

Cheap date night ideas at home

10 Date Night Ideas

If you’re unable to get a babysitter but are lucky enough that all your kids are in bed by 7 pm (and stay there), then you could have a romantic date at home.  Start the evening by cooking a meal together.  Choose a dish that you both have never made before – get the ingredients (you will need to organize this all beforehand) and spend the evening cooking it together.  Then sit down at a candlelit table with something delicious to drink and enjoy what you’ve created together.

Another at-home date idea

Once the kids are all tucked up in bed, order some takeaway, make a big comfy cushion and blanket pile in the middle of your lounge and relax watching your favourite tv episodes or movie (thanks to things like Netflix or Lightbox).  Or pull out that pack of cards or board games and have a fun games evening together!
